Iltija Mufti is the media advisor to the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Iltija is the daughter of Mehbooba and has been handling her mother's social media handles since 2019. She is contesting her first Assembly election from the Srigufwara-Bijbehara constituency in the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir elections against Jammu and Kashmir National Conference's (JKNC) Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri and Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Sofi Yousif. The seat, earlier known as Bijbehara, has been a stronghold of the JKPDP, as the party leader Abdul Rehman Bhat represented it three times in 2002, 2008, and 2014. Mehbooba Mufti won the constituency once in 1996 as a Congress nominee, while Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was an MLA in 1967. Iltija also campaigned for her mother in the Anantnag-Rajouri seat during the Lok Sabha election.
