Exit polls hold no value, do not corroborate with public response at my rallies, says Mamata Banerjee

Mamata Banerjee asserted that the regional parties including Samajwadi Party, RJD and DMK will perform well in the Lok Sabha elections. She also said that Muslims will not vote for BJP as they did polarisation and that CPI (M) and Congress helped the saffron party.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday denounced the exit poll predictions saying that they were not consistent with the ground reality. She alleged that the exit polls were "manufactured at home" two months back.

TMC chief said that these exit polls have no value, and criticised the press for showing them. "We had seen how the exit polls were conducted in 2016, 2019, and 2021. None of the predictions had turned out to be true," told the media.

"These exit polls were manufactured at home by some people two months back for the media consumption. They have no value," she added.

Exit polls do not corroborate with the response of the people, says Mamata

She asserted that the exit polls do not corroborate with the response of the people she received at her rallies.

Talking about the Muslim votes, West Bengal CM said, "The way BJP tried polarisation and spread false information that Muslims were taking away quotas of SC, ST and OBCs, I don't think Muslims will vote for BJP.” “And, I think the CPI(M) and Congress helped the BJP in West Bengal," she added.

Regionalparties will perform well: Mamata

However, she bided on regional parties. According to her, regional parties like the Samajwadi Party, RJD, DMK, and Shiv Sena (UBT) will do well.

On the question of her ties with the CPI(M) and Congress in West Bengal and chances of joining the I.N.D.I.A bloc government at the Centre, if voted to power.

Mamata said, "I don't think there will be any hurdle at the all-India level unless the CPI(M) interferes."

"See every regional party has its own respect, and after talking to everyone, if we are invited we will go. We will take other regional parties along. But let the poll results be out first," she added.

Notably, the Lok Sabhas elections exit polls have predicted higher gains for the BJP in West Bengal. The BJP is likely to get more seats than the TMC, which has been ruling the state sine 2011.

Meanwhile, state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar claimed his party will win at least 25 seats in West Bengal, but he would not be satisfied with less than 30 seats.
