The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a drone show in West Bengal on Wednesday night as the campaigning for the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha polls on June 1 draws to a close. Hundreds of people witnessed the colourful drone show organised by the saffron party in Kolkata. The event showcased the heritage and culture of West Bengal, as well as the achievements and promises of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.
The night sky over Kolkata Maidan was transformed into a dazzling canvas of multicoloured lights, creating a captivating display that captured the attention of onlookers. The centerpiece of this spectacular show was the formation of an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) outlined by lights, prominently featuring the BJP's election symbol, the lotus. The slogan 'Aro Ekbar Modi Sarkar' (Modi government once again) was emblazoned across the sky, reinforcing the campaign message.

Drone show depicts govt's promises of improved infrastructure
Following this, images of water flowing from a tap and a modest one-story pucca house were projected, accompanied by glowing Bengali script that read 'Ghar Ghar Jal' (water in every house), 'Pucca Bari' (pucca house), and 'Modi ki Guarantee' (Modi's guarantee). This sequence highlighted the government's promises of improved infrastructure and basic amenities for all.
The crowd's enthusiasm was palpable as they chanted slogans such as "Jai Shree Ram" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai," their voices rising in unison with the vibrant display of colours created by lasers and drones. The presentation reached a crescendo with images of Kolkata's revered deities, Maa Kali and Durga, which elicited the loudest cheers from the spectators. The display concluded with a striking image of Lord Rama holding a bow and arrow, further energizing the crowd.
Cultural and religious sentiments
This grand visual spectacle not only showcased technological prowess but also underscored the cultural and religious sentiments intertwined with the political campaign, leaving an indelible impression on all who witnessed it. The show also featured images of Bengal's iconic figures, including Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Rabindranath Tagore, appealing to the sentiments of Bengal. Kolkata's pride, the Metro Railway, was highlighted as well.
The 30-minute show began with the image of the Tricolour unfurling in the sky, accompanied by Indian instrumental sounds like santoor and sarod playing in the background. "We have sought to recapture the spirit of Bengal, while giving a sneak preview of the achievements and future pro-people projects of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. The ecstatic response of the audience shows how well it has been received," said a BJP leader.
