Massive fire broke out at a restaurant in Park Street, Kolkata on Tuesday. Several fire tenders reached the spot to extinguish the fire. The fire incident caused chaos in the busy market. However, the local police and fire brigade officials controlled the situation. The authority said the cuase of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
DC South Kolkata, Priyabrata Roy said the firefighters have worked hard and right now, the fire is controlled.
No casualties were reported so far in the incident, he said.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control and they are still working, he added.
At least nine fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze, first spotted around 10.50 am, the official said, adding that a disaster management team has also been deployed there.
The fire broke out at the restaurant adjacent to a multi-storied building on Park Street. People from nearby residential buildings and offices came out on the street in fear.
Fire breaks out at factory in Bhiwandi
Another fire incident took place in Maharashtra's Thane on Tuesday in which a sanitary napkin factory in Bhiwandi caught blaze in early hours of Tuesday.
The fire started at the factory, located in Saravli industrial area, around 3 am, said Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation disaster management cell official Raju Warlikar.
Fire brigade teams of BNMC as well as teams from Thane and Kalyan-Dombivli rushed to the spot and the blaze was brought under control by 8.30 am, he said.
Nobody was reported injured but the raw material stored in the factory was gutted, he said, adding that cooling operations were underway.
