What is the meaning of 'Ton' in AC? Which one should I buy?

While buying an AC in the summer, people take special care of the ton.

Today, people are buying ACs as per the requirement- ranging from 1-ton to 5-ton and above

1-ton AC does not mean that it weighs 1,000 kg

1-ton AC means that the machine will work as much as it cools 1,000 kg of ice

So, 1-ton AC will provide cooling, limited to 1 ton of ice freezing point at specific size of room

Experts say that 1-ton AC is perfect for a room of 150 square feet

When the area goes between 150-250 square feet, then 1.5-ton AC will work to cool down the area

If the area of your room is between 250-400 square feet, then one must buy a 2-ton AC

For rooms with 400-600 square feet area, a 3-ton AC will suffice

So, you may measure your room size and then choose the AC as per the 'Ton' to get satisfactory cooling
