Users can engage with the text or images on their screens to trigger searches. The circling gesture is just one option; tapping on text, swiping across words, or scribbling on images are also valid ways to initiate a search.

Google aims to make search more natural and accessible by enabling users to search without interrupting their current activities, such as watching videos, viewing photos, or chatting with friends. The feature is designed to seamlessly blend with various gestures and interactions.

The feature supports multisearch, combining text and image queries, and utilises generative AI for certain searches. The search results may vary based on the user's query and their participation in Google Labs products like the Search Generative Experience (SGE) experiment.

"Circle to Search" is set to launch on January 31 on the new Galaxy S24 Series smartphones and premium Android devices, including the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Google plans to expand support for the feature to more Android smartphones over time.
