Yash Dayal, Uttar Pradesh and RCB seamer, earned his maiden Test call-up for the upcoming Bangladesh series. Dayal pipped the likes of Arshdeep Singh and Khaleel Ahmed for the left-arm pacer's spot. Let's take a look at the first-class record of all three seamers-

Yash Dayal, who took four wickets in the Duleep Trophy match for India B in the Duleep Trophy, has 76 wickets to his name in first-class cricket in 24 matches at an average of 28.89.

It has been a comeback story for the ages in Indian cricket as far as Dayal is concerned. Dayal, who infamously got hit for five sixes in an over, had received an India call-up in 2022 but got injured. Since then, Dayal has been fabulous for UP in domestic cricket and had a season of redemption in the IPL for RCB

Khaleel Ahmed, who took five wickets in the Duleep Trophy match for India A, has made white-ball comeback for India but missed out on Test selection

Khaleel has had struggles with injuries and hence hasn't played a lot of red-ball cricket and that probably would have been one of the reasons for him not getting the nod. Khaleel has taken 30 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 33.26.

Khaleel would be keen to get a few more overs under his belt in the upcoming Ranji trophy season. A repeat of the last season and who knows, Khaleel might be in the scheme of the things for Tests as well.

Arshdeep Singh, the third candidate on the list is slowly getting himself on the red-ball scene. Arshdeep, who took a couple of wickets for India D in the Duleep Trophy match, did well for Kent last year in the County Championship

Arshdeep not only came as an improved batter but also showed his skills as a swing bowler, something which he did in New York in the T20 World Cup. Arshdeep has 51 wickets to his name in 17 matches at an average of 32.01

Arshdeep has done well in the opportunities he has got, however, the selectors would feel that he has to do a little more to challenge for that left-arm seamer's spot in the Test team given there's a Border-Gavaskar Trophy on the horizon
