Shubman Gill turned 25 on September 8. One of the five batters to score at least one century across all three formats for India, Gill has swiftly climbed up the ranks as a future leader and one of the future stars of the game. However, how does his stats at 25 compare with that of Virat Kohli, a modern-day great? Take a look-

Gill, who even has a double hundred to his name, has taken to international cricket like fish to water, especially in the ODIs probably right on Kohli's footsteps. Gill averages 58 in 47 matches scoring 2,328 runs while striking at over 100

Gill, who started as an opener in Test cricket, has come down to No 3 and even though he took a few innings to find his footing, he did well in the England series. In Tests, Gill averages 35.52 scoring 1,492 runs and is slowly getting into his own in red-ball cricket

T20 is Gill's Achilles Heel, especially in international cricket. Gill has 578 runs to his name in 21 innings striking at 139. Gill has started well and is on the up but has a long way to go, especially in the shortest format, given that selectors are seeing him as the next captain

Virat Kohli, a modern great and a living legend, announced himself on the world stage in World Cup 2011. But let's see, how does his stats compare with Shubman Gill at the age of 25

Even till 2013, Kohli had a stranglehold over the ODIs, scoring 4,919 runs in 112 innings at an average of 52.3. Kohli, who smashed probably one of the greatest knocks in ODIs in Hobart in 2012, had already himself as the next big thing, especially in the format in just three years from his debut

Virat Kohli by then was slowly getting into his own in Test cricket, especially after that Adelaide century. Kohli had 1,175 runs in 31 innings averaging 42 in Test cricket by the time he turned 25

In T20Is, the stats stand similar to that of Gill for Kohli. 587 runs at a strike rate of 130. Now Kohli has retired from the format but after a tournament while trying to be somebody else, it was vintage Kohli who came to form in the final helping India win the T20 World Cup

Overall, Gill and Kohli almost match each other's stats. Gill has scored 4,398 runs at 41.38 while Kohli has 6,681 runs to his name at 42.93. ODIs are still the strength for both of them. Even though Kohli was able to work his way in T20Is, both are cut out of the same cloth in the format but it is the Tests where Kohli took the cake and that would be Gill's next big focus
