Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj's place in the Indian Test side at home has come under scrutiny after the Bengaluru game against New Zealand. Siraj has taken just six wickets in the last three Tests at home, including two against Bangladesh

Siraj has had average returns in the last few Tests at home and it shows in his overall record as well. In 13 matches at home, Siraj averages 36.15 per wicket, which is pretty high for a strike bowler for India

Siraj, who has been playing home Tests since 2021, doesn't have a fifer in his name at home. His total scalps are 19 in 13 matches with a best of 4/84 against England in Saurashtra

On the other hand, Umesh Yadav had a sensational record in home Tests for India. In 32 matches at home, Yadav picked 101 wickets at an average of 25.88 including a best of 6/88

In the first 13 matches at home out of those, Umesh also averages 34.26, however, the difference is the number of wickets. While Siraj picked only 19, Umesh had 30 wickets to his name in the same number of games

Umesh too didn't have a five-wicket haul at home by then with his best figures being 4/80, however, he did add a couple of fifers to his name at home in the next 19 games

Siraj has a lot of lost ground to cover in terms of performance in home Tests. Yes, in 13 Tests, even Umesh averaged above 34 but he did get a few wickets extra and the lack of wickets for Siraj has rightly raised questions over his place at home
