1. Bob Simpson of Australia retired from the game in 1968 after playing 52 Tests. But he returned to play in 1977 and later also led Australia at the age of 42.

2. Imran Khan had announced retirement after 1987 World Cup but then made a comeback and won the World Cup for Pakistan in 1992.

3. Javed Miandad's retirement matter was interesting. He announced retirement and made a U-turn only in 10 days after then Pakistan PM Benazir Bhutto requested him.

4. Carl Hooper retired from the sport before 1999 World Cup. But he late made a comeback in 2001 and also led West Indies in 2003 World Cup.
