Teams to qualify for T20 World Cup 2026 despite not making it to Super 8 in 2024

8 teams qualified for T20 World Cup 2026 directly after making it to the Super 8 in this year's tournament - India, South Africa, England, Afghanistan, Australia, West Indies, USA and Bangladesh. However, four more teams including Pakistan have also qualified. Take a look at who and how-

Pakistan failed to make it to the Super 8 after defeats to India and the USA in the first round of T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan did win their games against Canada and Ireland to finish with four points

However, despite failing to make it to the Super 8, Pakistan qualified for the next T20 World Cup in 2026 in India and Sri Lanka on the basis of rankings. Pakistan were ranked 7th in T20Is on 30 June 2024 and hence, made it to the T20 World Cup 2026

It almost seemed like the end of an era for New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2024 as the Black Caps didn't turn up for the event. The Kiwis lost to the West Indies and Afghanistan and didn't make it to the Super 8

However, New Zealand being fifth on the ICC T20I rankings made it to the T20 World Cup 2026. The Black Caps did win their remaining two games against PNG and Uganda

Apart from eight direct qualifiers and hosts, three teams qualified based on the rankings and Ireland were the third. Despite not winning a single game in Group A in the T20 World Cup, Ireland have directly qualified for T20 World Cup 2026

Sri Lanka did not make it to the Super 8s but since they are the co-hosts of the T20 World Cup 2026 alongside India, they too have qualified for the tournament
