Smith was at 26 Test centuries at the start of 2021 and has scored 1 in 2021, 2 in 2022 and three last year including one in the WTC final. However, since he has started opening, Smith hasn't been at his best

Once a leader of fab four, Virat Kohli has slipped to the bottom of the pile among the best batters of this generation in Test matches. Yes, Kohli missed the five-match series against England at home earlier this year but his form in Tests hasn't been great in the last few years

Kohli scored just two centuries in this four-year period, one at home against Australia and one in the West Indies. With a long Test season ahead, Kohli will hope to regain his position having fallen far behind with just 29 Test tons
