Most balls bowled in Test cricket; James Anderson becomes first pacer to join rare list of 40k, one Indian on the list

Anil Kumble maybe fourth on the list of leading wicket-takers in Test cricket but is second on the list of most balls delivered, 40,850

Kumble took 619 wickets in his Test career at an average of 29.65 and strike rate of 65.99

Shane Warne is third on the list behind Muralitharan and Kumble with 40,705 balls delivered in Tests

Warne is second on the leading wicket-takers list with 708 scalps and may stay there for the time being with Anderson not able to get 9 wickets in his farewell Test

Stuart Broad is next on the list after Anderson with 33,698 deliveries. However, Nathan Lyon is the only active player after Anderson to have bowled in excess of 30,000 deliveries as the Australian spinner currently stands at 32,761
