Ricky Ponting ended his 7-year stint with the Delhi Capitals and joined the Punjab Kings as their new head coach for a 4-year period. Ponting became Punjab franchise's 11th coach in IPL. Take a look at the full list-

Tom Moody was the first coach for Punjab Kings from 2008 to 2010. The Kings XI Punjab, as they were called then, lost in the semi-finals in the inaugural edition after winning 10 out of their 14 matches before finishing fifth in 2009. The Kings finished at the bottom in 2010

Michael Bevan was appointed as the next head coach for just one season in 2011. Kings finished fifth in the season, however, his contract wasn't renewed

One of the reasons for Bevan's contract non-renewal was that Kings said that they didn't require an exclusive coach meant that Adam Gilchrist was appointed as coach-cum-captain in 2012 season. Kings finished sixth in 9-team tournament

Another season, another change in coach for Kings in 2013 with Darren Lehmann, who previously won trophy as a coach for Deccan Chargers in 2009 stepped in only to see his side record another 6th place finish

Another change finally yielded results for the Kings in 2014 under Sanjay Bangar as the Punjab franchise made it to their first-ever final but lost to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the summit clash. Punjab, however, had two really poor seasons following that, finishing last in both 2015 and 2016 under Bangar

Virender Sehwag, who went from a player to a mentor for Kings XI Punjab, unofficially assumed the role of the head coach after becoming the head of cricket operations in 2017. Punjab had a mixed season as they finished fifth after being in reckoning for the playoffs

Brad Hodge, another Australian stepped into the role for the Kings, however, the results didn't change as the Punjab side finished seventh in IPL 2018

Another sixth-place finish was waiting for the Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2019 with Mike Hesson taking up the role less than five months after resigning as the head coach of the New Zealand cricket team

Anil Kumble assumed the role for three-year period starting 2020. Kings changed their name, captain and approach during that period from 2020 to 2022, however, the results stayed the same. Kings finished sixth in all three seasons, with IPL becoming a ten-team tournament from 2022

Trevor Bayliss, after leaving his role at the Sunrisers Hyderabad, joined the Punjab Kings. Bayliss had a great roster at his disposal but the results didn't change as Punjab couldn't qualify for playoffs for a decade straight. Kings finished 8th and 9th under Bayliss
