India's rank in Olympics medal tally in every edition since 1980 as contingent finishes 71st in Paris

India finished in 71st place on the Paris Olympics medal table with one silver medal, five bronze medals, and one asterisk. While Neeraj Chopra was the only one to win a Silver, the likes of Manu Bhaker, men's hockey team, Aman Sehrawat and Swapnil Kusale won the bronze while decision on Vinesh Phogat's joint-silver medal is still pending. India had three medal-less Olympic Games campaigns before 1996 and the last medal came in the 1980 Games in Moscow, Russia where the country won its record eighth Gold in hockey. India had finished 23rd on the medal table alongside Belgium and Zimbabwe

1996 Olympics - India finished in joint-71st position alongside the likes of Israel, Lithuania, Mexico, Mongolia, Puerto Rico and Uganda with just one bronze medal in Atlanta

2000 Olympics - Once again India finished in the 71st position on the medal table with the likes of Barbados, Chile, Iceland, Israel, Kuwait and Katar with Karnam Malleswari winning the bronze

2004 Olympics - India finished in 65th position alongside Hong Kong and Paraguay with Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore's Silver medal helping the country rise up a bit on the table

2008 Olympics - India further improved its ranking with a 51st-spot finish at the Beijing Olympics with one Gold courtesy of Abhinav Bindra in shooting and a couple of bronze medals

2012 Olympics - London Olympics was India's best medal haul in the 112-year history of the Games with the country winning six of them - two Silver and four bronze. India finished 57th on the medal tally

2016 Olympics - India finished 67th on the medal table with just one bronze and one Silver medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016

2020 Olympics - Tokyo was India's best medal haul with seven of them including one Gold, two Silver and four Bronze medals. India finished 48th on the table
