Pakistan with a 2-0 series defeat to Bangladesh have shot themselves in foot. Their recent record suggests that the England series might be a tough one. Even if they win all their remaining 7 games their PCT will only get to 59.5 but since they play South Africa too, they have a chance to surpass them, but will need several other results to go their way

England's only way of reaching the WTC final is hope and pray. The loss to Sri Lanka at the Oval might come back to bite hard in the back as even if England win all of their remaining Test matches, their PCT will only get to 57.95, which will not be enough with 58.5 being the cutoff. Also since they play neither South Africa or Australia, their chances are negligible

India's PCT skyrocketed to 74.24 after the win against Bangladesh in the two-match Test series. India have eight matches remaining in the current cycle, a 3-0 win against New Zealand will be the need of the hour for India to leave as minimum requirement as possible on the Australian tour. 4 out of 8 should be enough for India, a fifth will officially seal the deal

Bangladesh with a 2-0 loss against India didn't help their cause at all as far as WTC points table is concerned. Bangladesh have a home series against South Africa and a tour to West Indies remaining and even if they win all four matches, their PCT will only get to 56.25

Sri Lanka have won three Test matches in a row, one in England and two at home against New Zealand and find themselves in third place with 55.56 PCT and have a tour to South Africa remaining and a home series against Australia. If Sri Lanka win three out of their four remaining games, their PCT will get to 61.53 and since they are facing both teams in contention, that might just be enough

New Zealand have suffered back-to-back 2-0 series defeats, first against Australia and now to Sri Lanka. They will have a new captain for the India series and now are in a must-win position. They will have to win all six of their remaining Test matches (three away in India and three at home against England). Six wins will help their PCT jump up to 64.28, even one loss will end their chances

South Africa, given the schedule, have the best chance of challenging India and Australia for a spot in the final. The Proteas are scheduled to play Bangladesh away and Sri Lanka and Pakistan home. Out of the remaining six Tests, South Africa have to win five out of them even after a draw against the West Indies. 5 out of 6 wins will take their PCT to around 61, which should keep them around India, Australia on the table

West Indies after the 3-0 series loss to England and 1-0 defeat to South Africa have been knocked out of the World Test Championship final race. Even if they win their remaining four Tests, their PCT will only reach 43.58 which won't be enough for them to make it to the WTC final

Australia with a PCT of 62.5 are comfortably placed in the second spot on the WTC points table. Australia have to play five Tests against India at home and two away against Sri Lanka. Even if they win four out of their seven remaining Tests, Australia should have their PCT in 60s to get to the final. But both their assignments are against teams in contention, so they can't afford a slip-up
