The Indian contingent arrived on Thursday (July 4) morning in New Delhi and skipper Rohit Sharma lifted the T20 World Cup trophy while swiftly moving towards the team bus to get to the hotel. Almost everyone unanimously made the 'Baahubali' reference when Rohit's hand and the trophy got visible amidst the fanfare and the crowd. Moment!

After getting to the hotel, where an elaborate welcome was planned, BCCI secretary Jay Shah cut the cake for Rohit and Co. Before leaving for the Prime Minister's residence, Rohit, coach Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli and others cut another cake, in tricolour and in shape of the T20 World Cup trophy

PM Modi then had a heartfelt interaction with the players and the coach Rahul Dravid before the team left for the hotel again to pack their bags and left for the airport. The Indian team departed for Mumbai at around 2-2:30 PM

The team arrived in Mumbai a couple of hours later and the City of Dreams didn't disappoint. The 1.5km stretch from NCPA at Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium was packed. Mumbai didn't disappoint as it showed up in huge numbers to welcome the T20 World Cup-winning team

The team then entered the Wankhede Stadium as the iconic venue was full packed given the entry was free and it was a rousing reception for the champions at the venue where India last won a World Cup final...

The team then followed the national anthem with a victory lap that included throwing tennis balls to get the crowd going, singing Vande Mataram and lifting the trophy one by one while showing the same to the whole crowd

The victory lap also saw Kohli, Rohit, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, fielding coach T Dilip and others break into an impromptu jig with dhol beats and 'Chak De India' song in the background. The videos are all over the internet

Gaurav Kapur hosted the event and he one by one called the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, coach Rahul Dravid and Player of the Tournament Jasprit Bumrah to the stage to say a few words

The event came to an end with the BCCI presenting the INR 125 crore cheque to the T20 World Cup winning team with president Binny, secretary Jay Shah, and vice-president Shukla on the stage
