Dinesh Karthik was picked in India's squad for T20 World Cup 2022 on the back of sensational IPL 2022 but underperformed with the bat in the tournament and was later replaced by Rishabh Pant in the XI. Karthik is in good form in IPL 2024 as well but is not in the scheme of things for the national team

R Ashwin played the T20 World Cup 2022 and even the ODI World Cup 2023 but hasn't been a regular in India's white-ball set up and will not be considered for this T20 World Cup

Mohammed Shami wasn't in India's T20 scheme of things but played the T20 World Cup in 2022 as Jasprit Bumrah's replacement. With the form he showed in IPL last year and World Cup 2023, Shami was in with a chance to get picked for T20 World Cup 2024, however, his heel injury and subsequent surgery have ruled him out
