Varanasi gets first public rope way transport

India will be the third country and Varanasi the first city, where ropeway will be used for public transport.

The 3.8-kilometer journey from Varanasi Cantt Railway Station to Godaulia will be covered in 16 minutes.

There will be a trolley for passengers every one and a half to two minutes. About 150 trolley cars will be run here from a height of about 50 meters.

The ropeway will run for 16 hours daily. It will be completed within the next two years.
