Spain's famous San Fermin festival has kicked off
Thousands crammed into Pamplona's main square for the lighting of the 'chupinazo' firecracker.
The nine-day San Fermin festival opened at midday before thousands of enthusiastic people.
The first bullfight takes place in the northern Spanish town today.
Six bulls, several oxen are chased through the narrow streets every morning
Bulls are charged up so that they show utmost anger during the 875-meter-long course.
The festival is always dubbed controversial by animal lovers.
Yet the festival continues to attract thousands of visitors from all over the world.
