The mosque, whose most recent renovation was finished about three months ago, was shown to Modi.

He was impressed by the intricately carved inscriptions on the mosque's doorways and walls, which were constructed in 1012.

Prime Minister Modi also met with leaders of the Bohra community, who are actively involved in the upkeep of this Fatimid-era Shia mosque and emphasized the strong people-to-people ties between India and Egypt.
