PM Modi conferred with France's highest award, 'Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, France's highest honor, from President Emmanuel Macron.

On Thursday, Modi arrived in Paris for a two-day visit and was greeted on the red carpet. He will join Macron for the French National Day celebrations on Friday as a Guest of Honour.

Earlier, the French President and First Lady Brigitte Macron facilitated a confidential supper for Modi at the Elysee Royal residence.

PM Modi addressed the Indian diaspora on Thursday evening and announced a deal to use UPI in France, opening a huge new market for India's cashless instant payment innovation.

In addition to announcing the establishment of a brand-new Indian consulate in Marseille, France, Modi also informed the upbeat audience that Indian students pursuing master's degrees in the European nation will now be granted five-year post-study work visas.
