A speeding freight train collided with stationed Kanchanjungha Express near Rangapani station in West Bengal
The collision occurred after express train had passed Siliguri, en route from NJP to Sealdah
At least nine people were confirmed dead, and over fifty were injured in accident
Medical teams are en route to assist the injured, with hospitals in vicinity on high alert
Relief trains have also been dispatched from New Jalpaiguri to accident site to assist in rescue operations
Further, rail operations have been disrupted, with several trains halted at various stations
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw termed incident "unfortunate", noted that senior officials were promptly dispatched to site
