National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been sent in Delhi to handle the situation in view of increased water levels in the Yamuna river.
Three teams each have been deployed in central, east and north east Delhi while two are positioned in south east Delhi and one in Shahdara region.
The teams are assisting the administration in evacuating flood-affected residents and others and rescuing those in danger, such as drowning.
Inflatable boats, ropes, and other rescue gear are provided to the teams.
The Yamuna water level contacted 208.53 meters at 10 am, breaking a 45-year-old record, officials said.
The DDMA instructed non-essential government offices, schools, and colleges to remain closed until Sunday due to record-high Yamuna levels.
