His real name is Konidela Sivasankara Varaprasad.
Before entering into films, Chiranjeevi was an NCC (National Cadet Corps) cadet.
He had participated in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi in the early 1970s.
He made his acting debut in 1979 with a Telugu film, Punadhirallu.
He became the first Telugu actor, whose movie minted over Rs 10 crore at the box office. The film was 1992 release, Gharana Mogudu.
He was a junior to Rajinikanth at the Madras Film Institute. Rajinikanth graduated in 1973 while Chiranjeevi graduated in 1977.
In 2002, Chiranjeevi bagged the Samman Award from the Central government for being the highest taxpayer in the entertainment industry
