Arjun Ram Meghwal, the law minister, introduced the Women's Reservation Bill on Tuesday in the Lok Sabha.
On September 21, the debate for whether to pass the Bill will be taken up in the Rajya Sabha.
The new bill aims to increase the involvement of women in state and national level policy-making.
Now 181 seats will be reserved for women in the Lok Sabha.
Out of 84 Scheduled Caste (SC) seats in the Lok Sabha, 33 percent will now be reserved for women.
Out of 47 Scheduled Tribe (ST) seats in the Lok Sabha, 33 percent will now be reserved for women.
Now 33 percent seats in Rajya Sabha will be reserved for women.
Now 33 percent constituencies in all state assemblies will be reserved for women.
After each delimitation process, there will be rotation of seats reserved for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
