Union Budget: Interesting facts

Morarji Desai presented the budget 10 times during his tenure as finance minister in the late 1970s.

P. Chidambaram is second on the list who presented a total of five budgets during his tenure as finance minister in the 1990s and 2000s.

Following Chidambaram close behind is Yashwant Sinha, who presented a total of four budgets during his tenure in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The current Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who has presented three budgets so far, has also made a notable impact on the Indian economy.

Other than this, Pranab Mukherjee, who presented three budgets during his tenure in the 1980s and 2000s.

Manmohan Singh has also made it to the list as he presented two budgets during his tenure in the 1990s.

The country's first general budget was presented on 26 November 1947 by tehn Finance Minsiter RK Shanmukham Chetty.
