Post the success of various sporting leagues in India, the Volleyball Federation of India and Baseline Ventures India Private Limited have joined hands to launch a new Volleyball league with an eye to improve the overall popularity of the sport in the country. The league has been named as The Pro Volleyball League, which will have six teams in Ahmedabad Defenders, Calicut Heroes, Chennai Spartan, Hyderabad Black Hawks, Kochi Blue Spikers and U Mumba Volley. The league is scheduled to begin on February 2, 2019.
Former India opener Gautam Gambhir told IndiaTV that it was not easy for him to call it a day. Gambhir recently announced his retirement from the game. He has also declared that he will not be playing even domestic cricket or in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gambhir last played for India in Tests against England in November 2016.

Former India opening batsman Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, saying his time to continue with the game was over. The 37-year-old Delhi batsman announced his decision in a video post on his Twitter handle. Gambhir played in 58 Tests between 2004 and 2016, scoring 4154 runs at an average of 41.95, with the help of nine hundreds and 22 fifties.
