Steve Smith suspended for one Test, Bancroft handed three demerit points for ball-tampering
Australia captain Steve Smith was banned for one Test by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday for his role in a ball-tampering plot in the ongoing third Test in South Africa in Cape Town. Whereas, opener Cameron Bancroft, the player who did the tampering, avoided a suspension and was handed three disciplinary demerit points which were not enough for a match ban.
