Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who appeared on IndiaTV's "Aap Ki Adadat" show almost 20 years back, had predicted a big win for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA in the 1999 general elections. True to his prediction, the BJP-led NDA came to power in 1999 with a big majority, winning 303 seats out of 543 seats in the Lok Sabha. It was on October 13, 1999 that Vajpayee took oath as the Prime Minister of India for the third time.
Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had once explained the ideology of "Hindutva" on IndiaTV's "Aap Ki Adalat" show. "Hindutva is not a system of worship, not a religion but a life line in India," Vajpayee said. He said no community should have any objection to the ideology of "Hindutva". Vajpayee was a three-time Prime Minister of India and the first non-Congress PM one to complete full term in office.

On being asked what will the BJP do if it comes to power, Atal Bihari Vajpayee said,"India's Parliament has passed a resolution that Kashmir is an integral part of India, and when we talk about Jammu & Kashmir, it consists of the part that is under Pakistan's control and the part which Pakistan has given to China. We are bound by that resolution. We will work towards this."
Aap Ki Adalat host Mr Rajat Sharma said Atal Bihari Vajpayee praised Nehru ji's foreign policy, called Indira Gandhi 'Durga' and supported Narshimha Rao's economic policies, he can be called 'adha-Congressi'. However, Vajpayee strongly refuted the statement.
On Khushwant Singh's remark about himself, Atal Bihar Vajpayee said on Aap Ki Adalat, "I respect Sardar Khushwant Singh ji, but I don't agree with what he said about me that I am a good man but in wrong party. If I am truly a good man how can I be in wrong party and if I am indeed in a wrong party, how can I be a good man?" he retorted.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee shed light on some important queries regarding functioning of the party. He said that his party is an independent organisation, and not remote-controlled by the RSS. "Kashi, Mathura will not be on our agenda," said Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Aap Ki Adalat host Mr Rajat Sharma.
There is no issue in taking support for government formation, however he said that we will only take the moral high ground and stay away from shrewd bargaining if such a situation arises. Former PM Atal Bihar Vajpayee was speaking on Aap Ki Adalat show.
