Congress leader Udit Raj on Tuesday said actor Rajinikanth touched Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath's feet because there was a buzz in the power corridor that he is the prime minister of the future.
"Debates are happening on Yogi Adityanath being seen as the prime minister in the future. Otherwise, such courtesy was not even shown by the actor for Prime Minister Modi. Rajinikanth is having a glimpse of the future Prime Minister in Yogi. Such talks are making rounds..," he added.
It is my habit to fall at the feet of a sanyasi or yogi, says Rajinikanth
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth on Monday said it was his habit to fall at the feet of a 'sanyasi' or 'yogi', irrespective of the age of that person. His remarks came in response to a question of a reporter in Chennai over talks on his touching the feet of Yogi recently during his visit to Lucknow.
"Whether a sanyasi or a yogi, it is my habit to fall at their feet even if they are younger than me. That's what I did," he said.
The actor's gesture kicked up a storm on social media, especially in Tamil Nadu. Several users questioned his move asking if it was okay for the 72-year-old actor to touch the feet of the much younger CM.
