Attack on woman constable: The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday gunned down Anish Khan, in an encounter. Khan was the prime accused of the incident of attack on a woman constable in Saryu Express.
The attack on the woman constable occurred on August 30 on the Saryu Express. The victim, a woman head constable stationed in Sultanpur, was en route to Ayodhya for her Sawan Mela duty.
UP STF, police joint operation
During the joint operation conducted by the UP STF and Ayodhya Police, Anish Khan was killed. The encounter took place at Chhatrapara crossing on the Kalan railway route. Additionally, three police personnel, including, Sub Inspector Purakalandar Ratan Sharma, were also injured in the encounter.
Special DG of law and order, Prashant Kumar said that two of his aides were injured and have been arrested in Ayodhya district after a police action. "As per the information received from field officers, Anish, the prime accused of the incident of attack on a women constable onboard Saryu Express injured in an encounter with Police in Pura Kalandar, Ayodhya who later succumbed to the injuries. His two other aides - Azad and Vishambhar Dayal Dubey injured and arrested in Ayodhya district after a police action," he said.
Police had announced reward
The UP STF had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for providing information leading to the arrest of the accused who attacked a woman constable in Saryu Express. They had also released three mobile phone numbers in connection with this case.
Head constable was discovered unconscious under the train seat
Head Constable Sumitra Patel, who resides in the Bhadri village of Soraon, had boarded the Saryu Express from Faizabad to go to Ayodhya for duty on August 30. While she was en route from Manikapur to Ayodhya by train at night, there was a dispute over sitting on a seat. During the altercation, she was attacked. The female police constable was forced to hide under the train seat in a critical condition. The woman constable was discovered unconscious inside a train compartment. Her face was attacked with a sharp weapon and she had sustained two fractures to her skull. As soon as this incident came to light, it created a sensation in the police department. The female constable is currently undergoing treatment at the Trauma Center in Lucknow.
