In the Madarva area of the Lanka region, two sisters were found residing with the skeletal remains of their deceased mother, who passed away nearly a year ago. The police disclosed this information on Wednesday. Police reported that the woman had died nearly a year ago, but both her daughters had not performed her last rites and had confined her body to a room. Upon receiving the information, police officers reached the location.
According to news agency PTI, Shivakant Mishra, the in-charge of Lanka police station, stated that Usha Tripathi (52 years old), a resident of Sarnath in Madarva, had succumbed to a prolonged illness in December 2022. He revealed that when the police arrived at the residence, they discovered that the woman's body had transformed into skeletal remains.
As per the police, Usha Tripathi's husband left home two years ago and never returned, even after his wife's demise. Moreover, the daughters, Pallavi Tripathi (27) and Vaishwik Tripathi (18), had not performed the last rites for their mother and had kept her body confined to a room.
Upon reaching the house, Mishra explained that when the door was forcibly opened, they discovered skeletal remains in the room. Both daughters were found sitting in the same room. The police have taken the two young women into custody, and an investigation into the matter is underway.
The police further informed that the daughters are being questioned to ascertain the circumstances surrounding their mother's death and the subsequent events. The shocking incident has left the community perplexed, shedding light on a disturbing tale of isolation and the tragic consequences of a broken family. Authorities are now looking into the legal aspects of the case as neighbors express their disbelief over the tragic discovery in their vicinity.
