In a shocking incident, some idols of a temple were found vandalised near Noida on Thursday morning in Uttar Pradesh. The police are suspecting the involvement of some drunk miscreants in the incident. Officials said they have launched an investigation into the matter.

"The information of vandalism in the temple in Reechpaal Gadhi village was received by the local police. New idols were installed there by following all rituals," Additional DCP (Central Noida) Hridesh Katheria said.

"During the initial probe, the police have found some empty liquor bottles near the temple, suggesting that some drunk miscreants may have engaged in the act of vandalism," he added.

The officer said a case has been lodged at the local Bisrakh police station and efforts were underway to arrest the accused.

Banke Bihari Temple corridor gets green signal

Earlier this week, the Uttar Pradesh government's ambitious project to build a corridor at the famous Banke Bihari Temple in Mathura for the convenience of devotees got a big relief from the Allahabad High Court. The court gave the green light to the Yogi Adityanath government's plan to enhance infrastructure in the holy city.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker and Justice Ashutosh Srivastava passed the order while hearing a PIL filed by Anand Sharma and another person from Mathura.

About the corridor project?

According to the scheme, there will be no interference of any kind during worship and other rituals carried out by the Goswamis (priests). The corridor project aims to facilitate darshan and puja by devotees. The government also wants to create facilities such as parking areas at the temple premises. The cost would be borne by the UP government.
