As many as seven policemen were suspended in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. According to a senior police official, six of them were suspended on the charges of allegedly conspiring with a criminal. In addition, the computer operator of Faridpur police station was suspended after a video surfaced online purportedly showing him taking money from a person.
Superintendent of Police (SP), Rural, Rajkumar Aggarwal said that apart from the computer operator, the other six personnel were suspended by Bareilly SSP Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan. The criminal is still at large
The Police said Shanu is yet to be nabbed. The SP claimed that Singh was in contact with Shanu via WhatsApp and noted that the cop is also accused of misconduct, gross negligence, laxity, and other offences. He was suspended with immediate effect by the SSP, Aggarwal said.
Head Constable Babar, posted at the Shergarh police station; Constables Dildar and Munawar Alam, posted at the CB Ganj police station; Constable Harsh Chowdhary, posted at the Hafizganj police station; Uttar Pradesh Special Operations Group Head Constable Anil Kumar Premi who were in touch with Shanu have also been suspended, the official said.
The Criminal is named in several cases
The action was taken after a nexus between police personnel and criminals came to light, the SP said. Shanu is named in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act cases registered by the Mirganj and the Fatehganj police stations in 2021 and 2022, police said and added that he has been also been charged under the Indian Penal Code.
