Authorities in Noida and Greater Noida have imposed Section 144 from Saturday onwards ahead of the festive season preventing unlawful assembly of five or more people, unauthorised public events and processions. The order was issued to renew the same restrictions that were imposed from September 6 to 15.
In an order by Hridesh Katheria, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), the decision has been taken in view of Vishwakarma Puja celebrations from September 17 and Ganesh Chaturthi from September 19.
Additionally, the International Trade Show at Expo Mart will take place from September 21 to 25 and the MotoGP Bharat event will be held in Greater Noida from September 22 to 24.
"Apart from this, various programs like competitive examinations are proposed to be held in Gautam Buddh Nagar and a ‘Rail Roko’ campaign by farmers may also take place besides protests by various organisations from time to time," Katheria said in his order.
Hence, Section 144 has been imposed in these locations to tackle the possibility of any disturbance to peace by certain 'anti-social elements', the officer said while renewing the restrictions. Under Section 144, no person is allowed to take out any kind of procession of five or more people wthout permission from the police.
List of restrictions in Noida and Greater Noida
- As per the order, the restrictions include barring people to form a group of five or more people, and also join such a group without permission from the commissioner of police, additional commissioner of police and deputy commissioners of police.
- Operation of private drones has been prohibited in a one-kilometre radius above and around government offices.
- In other places, video shooting and photography with any drone has been prohibited without seeking the permission of the commissioner of police and additional commissioner of police.
- Light, medium and heavy vehicles carrying goods have been barred from Delhi to Noida from September 21 till 25 ahead of the International Trade Show and the MotoGP event. Essential services will not be blocked.
- Additionally, heavy vehicles will not be permitted on Noida's DND Flyway, New Ashok Nagar and several other areas. These vehicles will also be kept from the Noida-Greater Noida and Yamuna expressways.

It is believed that the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi has been originated in Maharashtra in the 12th century by the Maratha king Shivaji Maharaj to promote Hindu culture and to unite his people. Initially, the joyous festival was celebrated only in Maharashtra but now it is being celebrated all across the country and the world.
About MotoGP Bharat
The MotoGP event is scheduled to take place at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida from September 22 to 24. The event is expected to attract over 1.5 lakh visitors, including over 10,000 foreign delegates. The occasion will see guests and riders from somewhere around 22 nations.
The police have already made elaborate security arrangements for the event. They have deployed over 3,000 personnel, including 1,000 traffic police personnel, to manage the crowd and traffic. They have also set up checkpoints at various places and are conducting regular patrols.
The MotoGP Bharat event is the first time that India will host a round of the FIM MotoGP World Championship. The race is expected to attract over 100,000 spectators and generate Rs. 100 crore (about $13 million) in revenue for the state.
