Section 144 in Ghaziabad: Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid) celebrations later this month, the Police Commissionerate of Ghaziabad on Saturday imposed Section 144 till July 4 in the area to maintain law and order and prevent anti-social practices.
According to a press note by the Commissionerate, the decision has been taken in view of sensitivity, seriousness and urgency of the festival. As per orders, pigs, bulls and other prohibited animals are banned near mosques.
A ban has also been enforced on sacrificing prohibited animals during the festival, and such sacrificial proceedings are not allowed to be held in open areas. There is also a ban on carrying meat in public or non-Muslim areas.
Other regulations from the Police Commissionerate include barring activities inciting caste or communal violence, carrying weapons, disturbing the peace and excessively high volumes.
The festival of Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on June 29, 2023. Also known as the 'festival of sacrifice', it marks the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. It is celebrated as a commemoration of Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice everything for God.
They may sacrifice a sheep or goat and share the meat with family members, neighbours and the poor. Many Muslims feel that they have a duty to ensure that all Muslims can enjoy a meat-based meal during this holiday.
