Radioactive material was discovered in the cargo area of Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, prompting an immediate response from the disaster management agency. The material, reportedly found during routine checks, led to heightened security measures and a thorough inspection of the site. Emergency response teams, including the fire department, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), are currently managing the situation.
"The National Disaster Response Force was called in to ascertain the cause of the alarm. There was no threat to life or injury. Airport operations have not been impacted," the airport said in a statement.
The leak originated from the packaging of a medicine containing fluorine. Efforts are underway to contain the leak and ensure safety.
