Crackdown on crime: The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is gearing up against crime. In order to make Uttar Pradesh free from crime, Uttar Pradesh Police have a new action plan called 'Operation Conviction' to ensure speedy punishment to the criminals involved in heinous crimes.
Under this new action plan, the police will arrest the accused and collect evidence and give them stringent punishment. Currently, in Uttar Pradesh, the accused are being arrested, presented with scientific evidence and given punished strictly by the court. Under this new action plan of Yogi government, in addition to all the charges under the POCSO Act, crimes of rape, murder, robbery, dacoity, religious conversion, cow slaughter have been included.
Trial proceedings will be completed within 30 days
In this operation, each Commissionerate/District will mark 20 crimes apart from those under the POCSO Act. In the charges related to the identified crimes, the chargesheet will be sent to the court after conducting a time-bound investigation. Within three days, the charge will be framed and the trial proceedings will be completed within 30 days.
It will be the responsibility of the police station in-charge and the commissionerate/district in-charge to present the witnesses and proves in the court on time. Along with this, coordination will be established with the FSL to make the test reports available within a week in the cases identified by the concerned commissionerate/district in-charge.
Monitoring cell will be formed
Apart from this, a monitoring cell will be set up under an officer in every commissionerate/district in-charge office to monitor the prosecution in the identified cases. Effective action will be ensured by reviewing the day-to-day proceedings of the allegations by the monitoring cell. A web portal is also being developed at the police headquarters for weekly review of the identified charges so that the action taken by the senior officers of the headquarters can be regularly monitored.
