Uttar Pradesh: In an unfortunate accident, at least five pilgrims were killed and 34 other others were injured on Monday in a collision between a car and a tractor-trolley. According to police, the accident took place on Agra-Delhi national highway at around 11:30 am under the Farah police station area.
Pilgrims were returning from Govardhan parikrama
According to the Superintendent of Police (city) Martand Prakash Singh, the accident occurred when the pilgrims in the two vehicles were returning from Govardhan parikrama. He further informed that pilgrims who were travelling in the car were from Rajasthan's Bharatpur. On the other hand, the pilgrims travelling in the tractor-trolley were from Madhya Pradesh's Bhind.
The trolley overturned
After ramming the car from behind, the tractor-trolley overturned on the Agra-Delhi national highway. As per the police, Three car occupants and one passenger of the trolley died on the spot. Later, a passenger succumbed to injuries.
The deceased car occupants have been identified as Govardhan (66) his son Roopesh (45) and his sister Mukhtari (65), while tractor-trolley passengers killed in the accident were Gyadeen (63) and Mukesh (34), as per a report of PTI.
