An accused in the Pintu Sengar murder case, who carried a reward of Rs 1.25 lakh, was killed in an encounter with the Special Task Force of the UP Police in Mauranipur area of Jhansi district on Saturday (November 18), the force said. The criminal was identified as Rashid Kalia who received gunshots, after which he was shifted to a hospital where doctors declared him dead, the STF said in a statement. He was booked in 13 cases under charges of murder, rioting, attempt to murder, use of deadly weapons, etc in Kanpur and Jhansi.
A reward of Rs 1 lakh was announced by Additional Director General of Police, Kanpur zone, on any information leading to his arrest, the STF said.
He used to carry out criminal activities by taking ransom.
In the year 2020, on June 20, BSP leader Pintu Sengar who also used to operate as a property dealer was allegedly shot dead by unidentified assailants in Chakeri police station area in Kanpur.
According to the police, the assailants had followed the deceased's car before shooting him dead.
