Uttar Pradesh: The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) in a big success have seized Rs 36 lakh from a person who is alleged to have links with hawala operations ahead of upcoming civic elections in the state.
The money was seized from the person at the DDU junction railway station when the accused was waiting for his train to Howrah from Varanasi. He is a resident of the Lalpur region in Varanasi.
According to GRP, the money is linked to Hawala jewellery.
The accused was caught from platform number 1/2 of DDU Junction.
