Uttar Pradesh: 'Make roads pothole-free before Diwali' CM Yogi Adityanath directs officials

Uttar Pradesh: If a road is damaged due to projects like metro or expressway construction, the department concerned would be held responsible, Yogi Adityanath said.

Uttar Pradesh: Arrangements in the state are being made for a safe Diwali and in view of the upcoming festival, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday has directed the officials to launch a special campaign to make roads in the state pothole-free before Diwali. The Chief Minister chaired a meeting of various departments and instructed them to ensure that the road building agency or contractor also takes the responsibility of maintaining it for five years after its construction. 

State-wide campaign to make roads pothole-free

According to an official, the Chief Minister in the meeting said the monsoon this year has been unusual and there is a possibility of continuous rain in many districts in the coming days. Keeping this in mind, a state-wide campaign should be launched to make roads pothole-free before Diwali.

"It is the responsibility of all of us to make walking on roads a pleasant experience for the common man," Adityanath said.

Adityanath directed officials for better planning

Adityanath in the meeting asserted that if a road is damaged due to projects like metro or expressway construction, the department concerned would be held responsible. The chief minister has directed the departments concerned to focus on better planning and said there is no dearth of funds for it, the statement said.

Adityanath also instructed all departments to ensure that the road building agency or contractor also takes the responsibility of maintaining it for five years after its construction.
