Uttar Pradesh minister Yogendra Upadhyay on Friday visited the parents of Captain Subham Gupta who laid his life in the Rajouri encounter and gave a cheque of Rs 50 lakh. Captain Shubham Gupta (9 Para) of Agra of Uttar Pradesh, Captain M V Pranjal (63 RR) of Mangalore area of Karnataka, Havaldar Abdul Majid (Para) of Ajote in Poonch, J-K; Lance Naik Sanjay Bist of Halli Padli area of Nainital, UK and Paratrooper Sachin Laur of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh were five Army personnel who laid their lives while fighting terrorists.
Two terrorists, including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander trained in Afghanistan, and five soldiers including two captains were killed in a 36-hour-long gunfight with security forces on Wednesday and Thursday in the Bajimaal area of Darmsal.
A cheque of Rs 25 lakh each was given to his father and mother. Apart from this, Uttar Pradesh has also promised to give a government job to one member of the family.
