Electric Vehicles are all set to get cheaper in Uttar Pradesh as the government has exempted road tax and registration fee for all kinds of new EVs purchased in the state for the next three years from October 14, 2022.
In addition to this, EVs manufactured in Uttar Pradesh will get the exemption for the next five years.
As per the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022, 100 per cent tax exemption will be given on electric vehicles (EV) sold and registered in Uttar Pradesh from October 14, 2022, to October 13, 2025, says a notification issued by Principal Secretary L Venkateshwarlu.
According to the government notification, in the fourth and fifth year of the Electric Vehicle Policy, i.e. from October 14, 2025 to October 13, 2027, a 100 per cent exemption will be given to EVs manufactured and sold in the state.
The exemption will be given on two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV).
The exemption in road tax and registration fee in UP will be in addition to the subsidy provided by the Central government on EVs.
