Uttar Pradesh: Nafees Biryani, wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case, was arrested after gunfire with Uttar Pradesh police near Prayagraj.
Police had received a tip-off in Nawab Ganj's Aana Pur that Nafees Biryani along with one of his associates were coming to Khuldabad home in Prayagraj.
When the police started checking near the border Pratapgarh-Prayagraj, Nafees and his associate opened fire.
In the retaliatory firing, Nafees was shot in the leg and got injured. Cops arrested Nafees but another accused escaped in the bushes.
Nafees Biryani was carrying bounty of Rs 50,000
A reward of Rs 50,000 was announced on Nafees Biryani. He is said to be a very close aide of Atiq Ahmed. According to the police, late night on Wednesday, police stopped two people who were on a bike in the Nawabganj area of Anapur police station for checking. However, both of them opened fire at the police. In retaliation, Nafees was shot in the leg while his companion escaped. Nafees has been taken to a nearby hospital
Umesh Pal was murdered on February 24
It is noteworthy that in the case of murder of MLA Raju Pal in Prayagraj, the main witness Umesh Pal and his two security personnel were shot dead in broad daylight on February 24. Umesh Pal was the main witness in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case. In the year 2005, BSP MLA Raju Pal was murdered. The main accused named in this case were mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. Both of them were shot dead near Calvin Hospital on April 15, 2023, while being taken for medical check-up.
