In a tragic news, three individuals traveling in an e-rickshaw died on Friday after a speeding Scorpio hit a divider and fell onto their vehicle on the Lucknow-Varanasi National Highway, police said.
The incident occurred around 9:30 am at the Dakahi bypass in the Lambhua Kotwali area. A middle-aged man passenger on the e-rickshaw, identified as 55-year-old Gurudin Nishad, a resident of Vajupur Pakhrauli in the Kotwali Dehat police station area, died on the spot. Two others, including the e-rickshaw driver, sustained severe injuries.
Lambhua CO Abdus Salam confirmed the details of the accident. The injured were initially taken to the Lambhua Community Health Center but were later referred to the Government Medical College due to the critical nature of their injuries. Despite efforts, the e-rickshaw driver, identified as Rajesh (40) from Vanshi Dhakapur in Kotwali Chanda, and a 62-year-old unidentified person succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Meanwhile, the police have sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations and have initiated legal proceedings related to the incident.
