Hoax call: A phone call threatening to blow up the Hazratganj metro station in Lucknow was received by the Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday night, said officials. Following the phone call, security was beefed up in and around the metro station.
Hazratganj ACP Arvind Kumar Verma said that the police control room received a call to blow up the Hazratganj metro station last night. “The caller told his name as Ramesh Shukla and said that a plan has been made to blow up the station and a person named Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Banda, is behind it,” he said.
'No bomb was found'
The threat call has put the entire state police force on high alert. However, the person who gave information to the police about the bomb switched off his phone. But the police searched every nook and corner of the metro station.
Bomb disposal squads were deployed at metro stations and heavy force including the dog squad remained present at metro stations. In fact, the person over the phone said that there is a bomb at the station, which will explode at 11.40 pm. Although the police carried out the operation till late at night, no bomb was recovered. ACP Verma further said, "The entire metro station was searched, but no bomb was found till late in the night. The investigation is going on."
