In a shocking case of gross negligence, more than 50 people, including women and children, fell ill after drinking contaminated water in a society in Greater Noida. According to the residents of the society, complaints started after a water tank was cleaned two days ago. Officials have begun a probe into the incident.

A resident of the society said that my son returned from a coaching institute and he told that he was unwell. According to the son, he also vomited twice in the coaching institute. The local resident said that after a while his younger son (8) came and he also told about being unwell. Now after people's health deteriorated, the authorities have started investigating the incident.

Raj Kumar, a media professional and resident of Supertech Ecovillage 2, said the issue came to light when residents were discussing water shortage on a WhatsApp group on Monday evening. "One resident mentioned that his child had diarrhea and vomiting. Soon after, another resident reported the same symptoms in their child, and more people began sharing similar experiences. It quickly became evident that hundreds of residents had fallen ill," Kumar said.

While society residents claim the number of affected individuals exceeds 100, the local health department said it is yet to determine the exact figure and the cause of the illnesses.

Supertech Ecovillage 2 is one of the largest group housing societies in Noida Extension, also known as Greater Noida West. It has around 20 high-rise towers, each with approximately 150 flats.
