In yet another setback for the Samajwadi Party (SP) just days before the final phase of the Lok Sabha polling, senior party leader Narad Rai praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday night via a post on ‘X’. Rai, who was known to be close to the late SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, shared a photograph of his meeting with Amit Shah, strongly hinting at a potential defection in the near future.
Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party leader and Cabinet Minister in UP government Om Prakash Rajbhar was also present during the meeting. Taking to X, Rai described Prime Minister Modi as a leader who has brought accolades to the country on the global stage and referred to Amit Shah as the "Chanakya of Politics," showering praise on both figures. “Will strengthen their resolve to strengthen the last man in the queue and their commitment towards nationalism. Jai Shree Ram,” the post read.
Who is Narad Rai?
Narad Rai has been in politics for more than three decades and is considered as the big leader of the Bhumihar community in Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh Yadav's rally was held in Ballia on Sunday in which Narad Rai got angry with Akhilesh's attitude. Rai has also been a former minister and former MLA in the SP government in Uttar Pradesh.
Before meeting Shah in Varanasi, Rai had also called a meeting of his supporters at his residence. During the meeting, he also remembered Mulayam Singh Yadav and pledged to remember his 'guru-mantra" till his last breath. "Neta ji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) considered himself as the servant of the leader... He said that if it comes to the respect of your people, don't be swayed by anyone. Neta ji, I will remember your guru-mantra till the last breath and I will always fight for my people," Rai said.
